Radio Station 2GB in Sydney Program: Mornings Producer: Ms Sophie Onikul Aired On: 20/04/2010 11:20:44 AM Compere: Ray Hadley Interview with Peter Maatouk, Lawyer. Hadley says a he saw a story yesterday about a lawyer, Maatouk, who allegedly falsely reported an assault and armed robbery at his Liverpool practice. He says police granted a former Labor party identity, Sam Bargshoon, indemnity from prosecution even after he was caught discussing bribery of council officials and his willingness to lie, if he testified. Hadley says that Sam Bargshoon was a central figure in the orange grove scandal. He says Bargshoon has a history of accusing people of doing things with no basis. Maatouk discusses the robbery and what led to Bargshoon becoming involved. He says that he doesn't know who robbed him, but the man who is testifying against him, Nicola Davies(*), knows the details of what happened on the night. Hadley says that Davies' allegation is that he was paid by Maatouk to rob the place. Maatouk says that Sam Bargshoon then blackmailed him saying if he didn't give them $100,000 then he would lie to the police and say that he and Davies were paid to rob the office. He says that Bargshoon claimed that he owned the Liverpool police and that no one would believe him if he went to them. He says he had to go to the Middle Eastern Crime Squad. He says that when the matter finally went to court the magistrate dismissed all charges after 45 days and said that Bargshoon was a liar. Maatouk discusses Bargshoon's telephone being listened to by NSW police and the different things he has been found talking about including bribing council employees. He says that this case has been terrible for his business. Hadley says that the NSW Police Integrity Commission should get involved in this case.
