“Granny May” to aid
            farmers in drought

“Granny May” is coming to the aid of drought stricken farmers in Australia during the worst droughts in the country’s history.

Granny is the central character in a new dramatic novel written by Australian author Nathan Adams and published by Carpe Diem Publishing.

The author is donating $2 from the sale of each paperback book bought on the internet, $1 from each e-book, and $1 from each paperback bought from a bookstore to the Country Women's Association to give to farmers in need.

The book “Granny May” by Nathan Adams, ISBN Number: 978-0-9803058-2-1, can be bought on the internet at www.shaminosrealm.com.au or ordered from any Dymocks Book Store or Final Chapter Bookstore, Wanniassa, Canberra.

“Granny May” is the first book of this new novelist.

Nathan, who lives with his wife and daughter in Canberra , the capital of Australia, is already writing a sequel to the novel.

After witnessing the worst drought ever recorded in Australia, Nathan has decided to help drought and debt stricken farmers with proceeds from the sale of his first book.

He says, “Emaciated cattle and sheep have been turned out to forage on dried crops and die in the dust. Debt ruined farmers have been killing themselves in despair.

“I feel I must do something to help.”

Nathan says his novel shows how disturbing events in the life of Granny May reawaken her motherly and fighting instincts.

The publisher describes the novel “Granny May” as an engrossing drama written with some humour.

This is the publisher’s summary of the novel: "After the sudden death of her daughter, whom she has not been in touch with for 15 years, May Lewis inherits her two 13 year old grandkids, a boy and a girl. A con artist and social worker both wish to have them removed from her, and work against her with this aim in mind. Meanwhile Jack, a man who has loved May for years, but is biding his time until May's institutionalized husband dies, finds an unexpected rival for May's affections in a man named Harold. But are Harold's intentions true like Jack's? Will May be able to find true love and retain custody of her grandchildren?"
